We're exactly three weeks out from Election Day, and Clevelanders now have one fewer excuse for not voting.
What's happening: The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will be free on election day, thanks to a $105,000 grant from the Cleveland Foundation.
Zoom in: From 3am on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to 3am the following day, all RTA services (bus, rail and paratransit) will be free of charge.
Riders don't need to show proof of voting to ride for free.
The big picture: Low turnout has been a bedeviling problem in Cleveland, where only 23% of eligible voters cast ballots in this year's primary.
The last word: "Removing barriers and providing equitable access to transportation is one thing we can do to ensure that everybody has the opportunity to participate in our democratic process," said Lillian Kuri, president and CEO of the Cleveland Foundation.
