We now know who will be at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
Driving the news: The Rock Hall this week unveiled its star-studded lineup for the Oct. 19 inductions at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
State of play: Inductees Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang and Dionne Warwick will all perform.
- The list of guest presenters includes Chuck D, Dr. Dre, Demi Lovato, James Taylor, Roger Daltrey, Sammy Hagar, The Roots, Slash and more.
The big picture: Here are five additional things we think will happen at the ceremony:
🪩 Dua Lipa opens the show
The intrigue: The first thing the Rock Hall did after announcing this year's lineup was reveal pop star Dua Lipa will perform in honor of Cher.
- Lipa walking out to start the show — a la Taylor Swift honoring Carole King in 2021 — would be one heck of an opening act.
🤠 Rock Hall heads to Music Row
The intrigue: There will be a huge country presence at the ceremony with Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Mac McAnally and Jelly Roll all listed as special guests.
- Rock Hall Foundation chairman John Sykes has mentioned Nashville as a potential future ceremony location, so don't be surprised if there's an announcement made.
🚫 Tribe won't kick it
The intrigue: The only active inductee not listed as a performer is A Tribe Called Quest. The hip-hop group looks like this year's "I don't really care about the Rock Hall" honoree.
- Yes, but: Busta Rhymes will be on hand to honor the group and perhaps perform his verses on Tribe classics like "Scenario" and "Oh My God."
🙏 In memoriam
The intrigue: Each year, the Rock Hall taps one stellar singer to perform in memory of music legends who have died.
- That honor may go to Jelly Roll, who is listed as a special guest and recently sang his hit "I Am Not Okay" during the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards' in memoriam segment.
🎉 Julia and DMB close things out
The intrigue: Roberts starred in the video for Dave Matthews Band's 2005 single "Dreamgirl" and will be on hand to induct the group.
- An Oscar-winning actress paired with this year's Fan Vote winner sounds like the ideal way to close the ceremony.
