Valley View firefighter Miocic awaits UFC fight

• The bout was canceled after Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle.

State of play: Last week, UFC president Dana White held his ground with reporters on the fight between Jones, considered the greatest pound-for-pound fighter of all time, and Miocic, a Valley View firefighter who once dominated the heavyweight division.

• The fight has yet to be rescheduled, but the UFC is targeting UFC 309 on Nov. 16 in New York City.

Yes, but: Some fight fans prefer Jones to fight interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who has owned the division for the past year.

What they're saying: Miocic and Jones "are going to fight in November and [Aspinall] will fight Jon Jones if he wins, I almost guarantee you that," White told reporters.
