Cavs '24-'25 schedule includes 16 national telecasts

• The Cavs' regular season begins on the road against the Toronto Raptors Oct. 23.

Between the lines: This will be the second year of the league's in-season tournament, recently rebranded as the Emirates NBA Cup.

How it works: The Cavs will play four randomly selected teams from the Eastern Conference — the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards — once each in November and early December before knockout games the week of Dec. 10.

• The Nov. 19 game against the reigning NBA champion Celtics will be televised on TNT.

The big picture: Cleveland's roster is largely unchanged from last season, which concluded with a drubbing by the Celtics in the second round of the playoffs.

• Notable additions include head coach Kenny Atkinson and first-round draft pick Jaylon Tyson.

The latest: Atkinson is fresh off an Olympic silver medal as assistant coach for the French national team.

What we're watching: Now that Atkinson is back in Cleveland and can devote his undivided attention to roster construction, will the Cavs sign a backup center before training camp begins Oct. 1?
