Northeast Ohio companies on the 2024 Fortune 500

Ten Northeast Ohio companies have cracked the 2024 Fortune 500, the annual ranking of U.S. companies by revenue.

Why it matters: Not only does the presence of large companies connote strength and influence in the corporate world, but these businesses anchor the local economy by employing thousands of people.

State of play: Progressive is Northeast Ohio's largest company, ranked 62nd overall, jumping up 26 spots from last year.

Zoom in: Two other companies in the top 200, Sherwin-Williams (176) and Cleveland-Cliffs (185) are making lasting commitments to downtown Cleveland.

By the numbers: Other Northeast Ohio companies making the list were Goodyear (204); Parker-Hannifin (216); FirstEnergy (331); KeyCorp (386); J.M. Smucker (446); Avery Dennison (450); RPM International (492).

Zoom out: Ohio had 27 companies in total among the Fortune 500.

  • Dublin's Cardinal Health ranked highest (14), with 2023 revenue totaling $205 billion.
