East Cleveland native Ray Jr.'s latest film, "Only Child," arrives this month.

Why it matters: It's the third project from the filmmaker and musician — real name Ray Winegarner — to get picked up by Starz.

The intrigue: The movie follows a young Atlanta girl who meets her biological father for the first time following a tragic car accident.

Flashback: Winegarner entered the public eye with his rap career in the early 2000s, appearing on Machine Gun Kelly's song "I Know" and earning a deal with Def Jam Recordings.

  • He launched his own entertainment company, Legit Paper, in 2014 and released a book with the same name in 2018.

Between the lines: In recent years, Winegarner has focused on film, having produced and starred in "Rent Due" in 2020 and "Legit Paper: The Movie" in 2021, both distributed through Starz.

  • "Only Child" will debut on streaming services including Starz, Amazon and Fubo sometime this month.

Worthy of your time: Winergarner will host a VIP screening and party for "Only Child" at Silverspot Cinema in Orange Village starting at 6pm Friday.
