Charlotte FC midfielder Brandt Bronico and his wife Rebecca have expanded their Airbnb roster, adding a coastal paradise at Carolina Beach.
Why it matters: This is the couple's first Airbnb on the coast, and it also holds a special place for them as a family.
Context: Carolina Beach was their first family vacation with their young son Brooks, Brandt and Rebecca tell Axios.
- The couple has champagne bottles with their goals written on them, and one of them was to one day own a beach house.
- They decided to do a 1031 exchange, selling their Lake Norman Airbnb and purchasing a beach property earlier this year.
- They closed in June on the beach house. It went live on Airbnb at the beginning of September.
What to expect: The three-story house sleeps up to 13 guests. It includes:
- Four bedrooms
- Three and a half bathrooms
- Hot tub on the rooftop deck
- A game room
- Murals
- While the house doesn't include a golf cart, you can rent one from a nearby vendor during your visit.
If you go: The Airbnb is about three and a half hours from Charlotte. Once you're there, it's about a five-minute walk to the beach and about a 25-minute drive to downtown Wilmington.
By the numbers: A visit costs about $400 per night right now, but that's subject to change based on the season and added amenities.
The big picture: While some critics say the Airbnb market is oversaturated, Brandt says that's only the case if you aren't willing to out-amenity your competition.
- "With both of us being athletes, we love to compete and see how good we can make something compared to those around us," Brandt says. Both he and Rebecca played college soccer for the Charlotte 49ers.

What's next: The Bronicos plan to add an inground pool and an outdoor shower in October.
