Iconic artists Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo will go head-to-head this fall at Blume Studios.
Why it matters: Charlotte will host the North American premiere of "Leonardo versus Michelangelo: The Epic Battle of Genius."
Context: In the early 16th century, these artists were commissioned to create artworks for the Hall of the Five Hundred in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy.
What to expect: The 90-minute experience includes virtual reality, exhibit space and massive projections. You'll even explore a full-scale virtual museum.
- You'll explore the rivalry between da Vinci and Michelangelo and what brought them to Florence.
- You'll also step back into 16th-century Florence, including the artists' studios and the city itself, via VR. There will also be physical and digital pieces that help you understand the work and lives of each artist.
- Ultimately, each visitor must choose to vote for team da Vinci or team Michelangelo.
What's next: Tickets start at $23 and go on sale Friday, Sept. 18, at 10am. "Leonardo versus Michelangelo" will run Nov. 12 - March 27, 2027.

The big picture: The immersive experience is the first in an ongoing collaboration between Blumenthal Arts and Barcelona-based Layers of Reality.
- This will bring the European studio's productions to Blume Studios through 2027, per Blumenthal Arts.
- "This partnership gives Charlotte a direct connection to one of the most innovative immersive arts organizations in the world, and allows us to build something that can last here," Blumenthal Arts CEO Tom Gabbard said in a statement.
