CLT adds nonstop flight to Barcelona

American Airlines will launch nonstop service to Barcelona from Charlotte Douglas International Airport starting in late May.
Why it matters: One of the "most sought-after" Spanish destinations — known for its architecture and beaches — just got much easier to fly to.
The big picture: CLT will have 11 daily flights to nine European destinations next summer, including:
- Barcelona (BCN)
- Dublin (DUB)
- Frankfurt (FRA)
- London (LHR)
- Madrid (MAD)
- Munich (MUC)
- Rome (FCO)
- Athens (ATH)
- Paris (CDG), with an earlier start date in March
Zoom out: American also revealed new routes from Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK) and Philadelphia (PHL).
What's next: Tickets to Barcelona go on sale Aug. 31.
