Touch Grass, a pop-up picnic series, returns Sunday, July 19 in Uptown.
Why it matters: The event is expected to become a monthly series in Uptown after the huge turnout at the last event showed there's strong demand for free, outdoor community events.
Catch up quick: Local DJ Darryl McNeil has been known to draw more than a thousand people to his laid back park meet ups and created it to offer a slower, low-stress alternative to meeting people.
What to expect: Touch Grass will provide some games like a large connect four and corn hole as McNeil spins mellow R&B music.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, water, chairs and picnic setups. Some attendees even play games, dance or catch up with friends while others read, journal or keep to themselves.
If you go: Touch Grass' next event is free to attend from 4-9pm at First Ward Park.
What's next: McNeil aims to host Touch Grass every third Sunday of the month in Uptown. Events will be postponed if it rains.
