New VR experience puts you in ancient Rome

A new virtual reality experience recently opened in Charlotte, transporting you back to ancient Rome.

Why it matters: At least six VR experiences have opened or are scheduled to open in Charlotte this spring. "Gladiator: Enter the Arena" is the latest is on view at The GreenHouse in west Charlotte.

• "Titanic: Echoes from the Past" opened at The GreenHouse earlier this spring.

What to expect: The 30-minute, free-roam experience takes you inside the Colosseum and out onto the streets of Rome in 1st century A.D.

If you go: "Gladiator" is at The GreenHouse at 401 S. Gardner Ave. through July 31, along with "Titanic: Echoes from the Past."

• Tickets for "Gladiator" start at $32.50 for adults and $27.50 for children. The experience is recommended for ages 8 and up.
