New cafe 77 & Belle opens in Charlotte's Belmont neighborhood

77 & Belle, a Black-owned cafe, opened in the Belmont neighborhood last week.

Zoom in: Owner Diamond Alexander was inspired to open the cafe and named it after her grandmother Hattie Bell.

• "My Nana loves coffee. We would go out to lunch and she would order like, six cups coffee," said Alexander.

The vibe: The 1,755-square-foot space has seating for about 56 people, and Alexander hopes it will become a go-to spot for remote workers.

• There's also a private room in the back of the shop for people who want a quiet space to take a meeting.

What to expect: In addition to coffee, they serve matcha lattes, teas, smoothies and fresh-pressed juices.

• Food items includes danishes, muffins, and rotating sweet treats like a red velvet cinnamon roll.
