Strawberry season is upon us, and you don't have to travel far from the city to pick your own berries.
Bush-N-Vine
Just under an hour from Charlotte between York and Clover, the York Stand offers pick-your-own berries plus a beehive, picnic area, and a scenic hiking trail.
What to expect: The season typically runs through mid-May, and may change depending on the weather.
- Pick-your-own strawberries are $4.75 per pound; picked strawberries are available for purchase as well.
If you go: Picking hours are Saturdays only from 8am-4pm at 1650 Filbert Highway, York, South Carolina.
Carrigan Farms
Carrigan is known for more than its quarry—a 25-foot-deep, spring-fed swimming hole—and offers pick-your-own crops from pumpkins to strawberries.
What to expect: The season runs from mid-April through late May.
- Pick-your-own strawberries price varies by size, with four sizes to choose from starting at $8.
If you go: Picking hours are daily from 9am-6pm at 1145 Oakridge Farm Hwy.

Hall Family Farm
The family-owned farm was in Ballantyne for 70+ years but moved the operation to Lancaster, South Carolina. It was by far one of Charlotte's most popular U-Pick locations.
What to expect: The season runs through late May.
- Pick your own berries and picked berries are $3.99 per pound.
If you go: Picking hours depend on availability and weather, but are typically 9am-6pm Tuesday through Sunday at 445 W. Rebound Road. Check Facebook before you visit for updates on picking status.
Hunter Farm
Established in 1868, this Weddington-area farm is home to farm animals, community gardens and more.
What to expect: The season runs through May 31.
- Pick-your-own berries are $4.25 per pound. Picking conditions are updated daily on the farm's Facebook page
If you go: Picking hours depend on availability of strawberries and conditions, but are typically Friday 4-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-7pm at 13624 Providence Road.
The Ivy Place
The historic homesite of Adam Ivy, which operated as a dairy farm until the late 1950s, is now a well-known and meticulously tended site that hosts weddings and is complete with barns, gardens and fields of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.
What to expect: Picking season will last through May.
- Pick-your-own strawberries are $4 per pound and picked options are available.

Lineberger's Farm
Known for its first strawberry crop — whose profits funded Harold Lineberger's proposal to Patsy — the farm offers pick-your-own berries, family activities, treats and recipes for your haul.
What to expect: You-pick strawberries cost $9 per half-gallon and $16 per gallon.
If you go: Check Facebook for updates before you visit. Picking hours are Monday through Friday 9am-6:30pm, Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 12-6pm at 906 Dallas Stanley Highway, Dallas, North Carolina.

Patterson Farm
This Mount Ulla farm about 45 minutes north of the city is known for its educational programs. It's stuck to its roots, and in addition to fresh berries, the grounds host a market, ice cream shop, snack silo, playground and barnyard.
What to expect: The season runs though May 31.
- Pick-your-own berries are $9 or half basket (2.5 pounds) and a full basket is $18.
- Picked strawberries range from $6.50 for a quart to $22 for a gallon.

Springs Farm
This South Carolina farm has been around more than 80 years and while it may be known for peaches, it also has a selection of strawberries.
What to expect: The season is expected to last until the end of May.
- Pick-your-own strawberries are $4.49/pound. Farm-provided containers are the only containers that can be used.
If you go: Check Facebook before you visit. Picking hours are typically Thursday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 1pm- 6pm at 835 Springfield Parkway, Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Wise Acres Organic Farm
At this USDA Certified Organic farm, you'll find a picking guide to guarantee you get the best berries.
What to expect: The season typically runs through early June but depends on the weather.
- U-pick strawberries are $4.19/pound.
