Amélie's is opening an express-style cafe in Plaza Midwood next month.
Why it matters: Called Amélie's L'Express, it's the popular French bakery's first no-seating outpost, and its sixth location.
What to expect: Taking over the former Nova's Bakery spot on Central Avenue, Amélie's L'Express will serve the same French pastries you know (macarons, éclairs, tarts), plus coffee and fresh-baked bread, says Summer Marquez, general manager of the L'Express and NoDa locations.
The intrigue: The roughly 300-square-foot space, however, won't have seating.
- The full bistro menu isn't coming with it, either, but you'll find some heartier grab-and-go lunch items, Marquez says.
Fun fact: The shop backs up to Amélie's bread bakery. Through a window, customers can watch loaves bake in massive ovens.
The vibe: Expect the same eclectic Amélie's style ("Marie Antoinette meets Alice in Wonderland," as its designer Brenda Ische once described it).

If you go: Hours will mirror other Amélie's locations, 7am–10pm Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
