Charlotte trivia heavyweights, it's time to rally the group chat. Mindless Minutia is back with its annual trivia championship.
Why it matters: Mindless Minutia is one of the biggest reasons Charlotte bars and breweries are packed on weeknights. The locally grown trivia company now runs more than 60 games across the city, with trivia as its bread and butter.
Driving the news: The high-stakes, brains-and-teamwork showdown is in its fourth year.
- Winners take home $3,000 in cash (split among the top three teams), plus Charlotte FC tickets and swag.
What they're saying: "It's not just about being the eight smartest people," founder Jacob Gresham tells Axios.
- "The team that's going to win is the eight players that work the best together in crunch-time situations and can problem-solve the quickest."
How it works: There will be two preliminary competitions at Triple C Brewing on March 22 and March 29, each starting at noon.
- Each team can have up to eight members. Expect each competition to last about three hours.
- The top teams from each preliminary round advance to the finals on Sunday, April 12, at 12pm at Triple C.
- It costs $200 per team to compete; only one person from each team needs to register.

Between the lines: Mindless Minutia is known for throwing curveballs. It's not your average trivia competition. Expect interactive, collaborative challenges that go way beyond standard Q&A.
- Past tournaments, for example, include puzzle-based rounds, live music mashups and tactile challenges that force teams to think (and communicate) fast.
Flashback: The first two championships were dominated by the same powerhouse team — so good they traveled in from Wilmington and beyond to compete.
- A local team finally took the crown last year, proving home-field advantage is real.
