Season 23 of "Top Chef," dubbed "Top Chef Carolinas," premieres March 9 at 9pm on Bravo.
Why it matters: The Emmy-winning cooking competition was filmed in Charlotte and Greenville, S.C. And two of this season's contestants currently work in some of the best restaurants in Charlotte and Durham.
Driving the news: "Top Chef" revealed its season 23 trailer on Thursday, featuring the Whitewater Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway and other local scenic spots.
How it works: 15 chefs compete for a grand prize of $250,000, plus other perks like the opportunity to host a dinner at the historic James Beard House and present at the awards ceremony in Chicago.
- Along the way, chefs can also win immunity, competitive advantages and cash prizes, with more than $150,000 total up for grabs.

Zoom in: Brittany Cochran, executive chef at Stagioni in Charlotte, and Oscar Diaz, chef-owner at Little Bull, AAKTUN and TaTaco in Durham, are representing North Carolina this season.
- Celebrity sightings include Charlotte-raised comedian Fortune Feimster, Southern Charmers Madison LeCroy and Craig Conover, NASCAR legends Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch, and Emeril Lagasse, to name a few.
- The season will also feature renowned chefs from across the state as guest judges, including Jamie Brown and Jeff Tonidandel (Ever Andalo, Supperland, Leluia Hall), Greg and Subrina Collier (Uptown Yolk), Joe and Katy Kindred (Kindred, Milkbread, Albertine), Meherwan Irani (Chai Pani), William Dissen (The Market Place) and Cheetie Kumar (Ajja).
What's next: Fans can stream the premiere early, beginning March 3 on Peacock, Bravo's YouTube channel, and VOD. Episodes will be available on Peacock the day after airing.
