This serene waterfront retreat in Denver, N.C. is our 2025 pick for Best Lakeside Design.
Why it matters: Our eighth annual Home of the Year award highlights exceptional design, and this new build on Lake Norman uses its architecture to capture sweeping waterfront views at every turn.
The house: Spanning 7,600 square feet, the estate offers room to spread out with seven bedrooms, seven full baths and two half baths.
- Smart-home technology, curated designer finishes and custom-crafted details make the home feel intentionally designed, not just built.
- A steel-and-glass entryway sets the tone the moment you step inside, while a floating staircase blends form and function.
Lakeside living: Greg Perry Design and Grandfather Homes shaped the layout to showcase lake views from nearly every room, creating a feeling that you're always connected to the water.
- Panoramic windows blur the line between indoors and out, turning the lake into part of the home's everyday backdrop.

Zoom out: Outside, the pool terrace flows seamlessly toward the shoreline, giving the backyard a resort-like feel.
- A private dock provides easy lake access and extends the home's outdoor lifestyle.
What's next: If you've ever dreamed of living by the water, this one may be your chance. The home is listed for sale for $6,750,000, by Matt Ewers and Missy Bagley with Grandfather Homes.
