New Uptown spot blends coffee and workshops

Sugar & Sip Coffee and Workshop is a new Black-owned coffee shop in Uptown's Fourth Ward.

What to expect: The menu features seasonal drinks and sweet treats — think cinnamon rolls, cheesecake, and cookies — but the real focus is creating community through creative workshops or events.

• Tonight, they'll host an open mic night from 6-9pm. $8 for general admission; performers get in free.
• They also host weekly events like their Tuesday movie nights, designed to bring people together.

The vibe: The shop has plenty of seating on the first floor, while the second floor can be rented as a private event space for groups of up to 50.
