A new music venue is planned for Uptown at Bank of America Stadium.
Why it matters: Tepper Sports & Entertainment plans to level up the entertainment part of its name with a new 4,400-seat indoor performance venue, according to plans shared at a Charlotte City Council committee meeting Monday.
The latest: Blueprint Studio, Live Nation's in-house design and development group, will lead the project, TSE announced Thursday, Oct. 16.
Between the lines: TSE's plans for a new facility come amid ongoing practice facility and stadium upgrades.
By the numbers: TSE, which declined to share how much the venue is expected to cost, will fund the music venue project.
What to expect: The 89,000-square-foot facility will be on a two-acre site near the North Gate at Bank of America Stadium, where the team currently hosts its Champions Hospitality Village for Carolina Panthers games, along Graham Street.

- The venue will host concerts, events and game-day hospitality — roughly 80-100 events annually.
- "It tells you the demand that's out there for event space like that," Vinay Patel, who owns two hotels in Uptown, tells Axios.
The big picture: Uptown has stadiums and arenas, plus smaller indoor and outdoor venues, but lacks a centrally located venue of this size.
- "We don't have anything in between," Patel says of Uptown's biggest and smallest entertainment venues.
- Bojangles Coliseum, off Independence Boulevard and outside Uptown, holds between 7,000-8,600 people for concerts, and Ovens Auditorium holds 2,500, CBJ reported.
- AvidXchange Music Factory has several smaller venues, including the Fillmore, which holds fewer than 2,000 people.
- Blumenthal Arts spaces include Belk Theater (2,118 capacity), Knight Theater (1,192 capacity), Booth Playhouse (436 capacity) and Stage Door Theater (233 capacity).
What's next: Construction on Tepper Sports' venue is slated to begin in 2027, and the facility will open in 2030.
- Charlotte City Council approved the necessary adjustments for the project on Oct. 13.
What they're saying: "Our plans for the entertainment venue reflect a continued commitment to the city's future, and we look forward to sharing more details soon," TSE CEO Kristi Coleman said in a statement.
Editor's note: This story was updated on Oct. 16 to reflect TSE's partnership with Live Nation.
