Police are still looking for a man who allegedly attacked four friends on a night out in NoDa, our news partners at WBTV report.
Why it matters: The attack — which left two men shot, including one now paralyzed — appeared to be random and remains unsolved more than two weeks later.
What happened: Just after 1am on July 26, a man in black clothing and a ski mask confronted four friends on Mercury Street, police say.
Pedro Aguirre and Bryan Martinez were both shot during the attempted robbery.
Aguirre was left paralyzed from the waist down, according to his girlfriend, Ansley Ivy.
Ivy and Martinez's fiancée, Lorena, ran from the scene when the man appeared.
The big picture: Violent crime is trending downward in Charlotte overall, according to data obtained by Axios. However, parts of the city, such as Uptown and South End, have seen a surge in robberies.
Detective Jacqueline Clyburn from the Charlotte police Crime Stoppers unit says "anything is possible" and cautions people to "be aware of your surroundings" because violent crimes are becoming increasingly brazen.
What's next: Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or submit tips via the P3 Tips app. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
Ivy and Martinez described the man as 5'7" with a slim build.
