Atlantic hurricane season is June 1 to Nov. 30, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services wants you to start preparing now.
Why it matters: Just because Charlotte isn't on the coast doesn't make us immune to the impacts of hurricane season.
By the numbers: Three people died and 170 homes were damaged in Mecklenburg County during last year's hurricane season, per Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.
