Dom's Dive Bar recently opened in Lower South End in the former Bar LoSo space, near Goldie's.
Why it matters: The dive bar is a new joint from the team behind some of Charlotte's best-known soccer bars, including Valhalla in Uptown.
What to expect: Dive bar staples like $2 Miller High Lifes, pool tables and dart boards.
- Plus, elevated touches like draft cocktails and coffee, a food menu with wings and weekend breakfast burritos, and an upgraded TV and sound system.
The vibe: "Comfortable, no frills and straightforward — something that's built for the neighborhood," co-owner Matt Marenna tells Axios.
- While Dom's has the bones of a dive bar, sports will be part of its DNA, with Charlotte FC matches, MotoGP races and other Euro sports playing regularly on screen.

Between the lines: In an area of Charlotte growing with trendy restaurants and upscale bars, Dom's stands out as a no-frills alternative.

Backstory: The team behind Dom's has grown a loyal soccer following across Charlotte, especially among Liverpool and Wolves fans.
- Their other bars, Valhalla, Hooligans, and the now-closed Elizabeth Parlour Room, are all popular soccer bars.
- That fan base has spilled over to Dom's, says Marenna. "Soccer will be a part of our fabric."
Fun fact: The bar is named after Marenna's grandfather, Dominic, who often took him to a social club called "The Elks Lodge" as a kid. His Grandpa would get a beer; Marenna, a Shirley Temple.
- That memory is what led to the idea for this bar, says Marenna. "I think my Grandpa would enjoy being here."

Stop by: Find Dom's Dive at 3609 South Blvd., between Ski Country Outdoors and Seoul Bowl.
- It's open Monday 3pm-midnight, Wednesday-Thursday 3pm-1am, Friday 3pm-2am and Saturday-Sunday 11am-2pm. Closed Tuesday.
