Dogwood will unveil its new Uptown space with a fundraiser for restaurant workers

Dogwood: A Southern Table's new chapter inside The Westin in Uptown begins with the Dogwood Housewarming Party, a fundraiser for food service workers benefitting Giving Kitchen.
Why it matters: Giving Kitchen, a James Beard Award-winning nonprofit that supports food service workers during times of crisis, has been heavily involved in North Carolina following the devastation of Hurricane Helene.
What to expect: The Dogwood Housewarming Party is Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 6pm. There will be elevated snacks, craft cocktails and an auction emceed by Dogwood owner Jon Dressler.

- Dogwood is at 601 S. College St. inside The Westin.
By the numbers: Dressler says he hopes the fundraiser will raise $100,000 for Giving Kitchen.
- The nonprofit has provided more than $730,370 to more than 3,350 food service workers in North Carolina over the last two years, a Giving Kitchen spokesperson tells Axios.
Between the lines: In addition to being a night for a cause, the Dogwood Housewarming Party gives patrons a sneak peek before Dogwood opens to the public on Jan. 22.
Context: The restaurant is part of The Westin's $25 million renovation, including more than $6 million for the restaurant space.
- It's also a transformation for Dressler's Rare Roots Hospitality restaurant, which was previously located in SouthPark before closing in 2023.
What's next: Dogwood will be open daily from 11:30am until midnight. It'll serve lunch and dinner and will eventually add brunch. It'll begin taking reservations later this week.
