This newly built Lake Norman mansion is our 2024 pick for Best Architecture.
Why it matters: Our seventh annual Home of the Year award highlights the latest real estate projects in our area, and this waterfront home's craftsmanship is a prime example of seamless indoor and outdoor transitions.
The house: At 7,524 heated square feet, this house has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three half bathrooms.
- It has built-in bunk beds, arched walls, high ceilings, a hot tub and a pool.
Design: The vision for this property was created to have a contemporary coastal aesthetic with a transitional flair.
- Designers leaned on contrasting colors and textures to bring a timeless look to life. The team behind the project included Grandfather Homes, a plan design from Elite Design Group and interior design by Modern Cottage.
Zoom in: Expansive windows, some floor-to-ceiling, worked to functionally blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces to make this an elevated yet relaxed entertaining lakeside estate.
Lakefront living: The house and sandy beach provide a 300-degree overlook of Lake Norman's serene waters.
