Cooler days may be approaching, but there's still time to fit in a flower-picking adventure before local farms bring out their fall staples.
Here are seven pick-your-own flower farms within two hours of Charlotte, listed by the closest to farthest distance from Uptown.
McLawland Farms
This northeast Charlotte farm offers u-pick flowers from April through the first frost, which typically happens in early November.
- Jars of flowers come in four sizes, which you can take home: milk jar ($12.50), pint jar ($18.50), premium quart ($24.50) or VIP quart ($36.50).
- Throughout the year, the farm hosts tours, events, and overnight stays in its two on-site Airbnbs.
If you go: Appointments are required and are available on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Located 25 minutes from Uptown at 8632 Reedy Creek Road.
Wise Acres
U-pick flowers are available in every season at this Indian Trail farm, which also offers pumpkin picking in the fall (Sept. 14- Nov. 3.).
- It's $17.50 to pick flowers and includes a farmhouse jar and 20 stems.
If you go: Reservations to visit the farm are required.
- Located 30 minutes from Uptown at 4701 Hartis Road, Indian Trail.
Aurora Flora
Located near Lake Norman, Aurora Flora offers a cut-your-own bouquet experience most weekends from May to September.
- Expect hundreds of blooms on its 1/4 acre field.
- It's $25 for an individual cup and $75 for a bulk bucket.

Curiosity Farm Flowers
At Curiosity Farm, minutes from downtown Concord, you can pick your own flowers every Thursday and Saturday in August from 6pm to sunset.
- Expect flowers like zinnias, sunflowers, marigolds, celosia and dahlias.
If you go: It's $20 to fill a large mason jar (included) and $30 to fill a French flower bucket (not included — visitors are asked to bring their own pitcher to take home).
- Located 35 minutes from Uptown at 520 Crestmont Dr SE, Concord.
Pocket of Poppies
This Unionville farm offers pick-your-own flowers until the first frost of the season.
- U-pick hours are announced on Sunday for the week ahead.
If you go: It's $25 to fill a pitcher (around 30-40 stems) and $65 for a bucket. Kids can fill a vase for $13. You won't be able to take the vessel home, so bring your own container or have your flowers wrapped.
- Located 45 minutes from Uptown at 6515 Love Mill Rd, Unionville.
Thompson Family Farm
Find a sunflower maze and U-pick flower garden and pumpkin patch at this South Carolina family farm.
- Sunflowers are $1 per stem. The flower garden is $25 plus admission and includes a cup to keep.
If you go: Fall season begins Aug. 28. The farm is open Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-7pm.
- Located about two hours west of Uptown at 13830 SC-11, Campobello, S.C.
Stepps Hillcrest Orchard
Grab a take-home basket and fill it with over 10 varieties of sunflowers, plus zinnias, across an 8-acre field at this family-owned orchard.
- Depending on the season, the farm also offers U-pick apples, pumpkins, grapes and tulips.
