Flower fields across the Carolinas are starting to bloom.
Why it matters: From spring's tulip fields to fall's sunflower patches, we've rounded up nine pick-your-own flower farms within about two hours of Charlotte.
Of note: Farms are listed in order from closest to farthest from Uptown.
Small City Farm
This 3-acre farm in northwest Charlotte offers a Saturday morning u-pick experience by appointment, where $25 gets you a quart jar to fill with your own blooms.
If you go: Park in front of the chicken house and check in at the Farm Stand.
- Payment is by card only.
- About 15 minutes northwest of Uptown at 1401 Auten Road.
McLawland Farms
This northeast Charlotte farm offers u-pick flowers May to October, plus tours, events, and overnight stays in its on-site Airbnbs.
- U-pick pricing: Farmhouse jar ($14), pint jar ($20), premium quart ($28) or VIP quart ($38).
If you go: Appointments are required and are available on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Wise Acres
U-pick flowers are available spring through fall at this organic Indian Trail farm, which is expected to open in April for strawberry season.
- Wise Acres also offers u-pick berries and pumpkin picking.
If you go: Reservations are required.
- Located 30 minutes from Uptown at 4701 Hartis Road, Indian Trail.
Aurora Flora
Located near Lake Norman, Aurora Flora offers a cut-your-own bouquet experience most weekends from May to September.
- Expect hundreds of blooms on its 1/4 acre field.
- It's $25 for an individual cup (20-25 stems) and $75 (75-85 stems) for a bulk bucket.

Curiosity Farm Flowers
Curiosity Farm, just minutes from downtown Concord, offers u-pick flowers, plus workshops and flower subscriptions.
- You can also grab pre-cut blooms at the farm's corner shop inside Nothing New Vintage, where you'll find candles, prints and other nature-inspired gifts.
If you go: Find the farm 35 minutes from Uptown at 520 Crestmont Dr SE, Concord.
Pocket of Poppies
This Unionville farm offers pick-your-own flowers and is set to open for the 2026 season in June, running through the first frost.
- U-pick hours are released monthly.
If you go: It's $25 to fill a pitcher (around 30-40 stems) and $65 for a bucket. Kids can fill a vase for $13.
- Located 45 minutes from Uptown at 6515 Love Mill Rd, Unionville.
Patterson Farm
Patterson Farm in Mt. Ulla hosts a spring tulip festival in March (plus sunflowers and pumpkins later in the year), with tickets ranging from $5 for tulip field entry to about $13–$20 for full farm access.
- Expect pick-your-own blooms, a large play area with 40+ activities, animals, and wagon/train rides on weekends.
If you go: The farm is about 45-50 minutes from Uptown at 10390 Caldwell Road, Mt. Ulla.
Howard Family Farm
Tulip season began March 15 at this farm in Harmony, North Carolina, offering a u-pick experience and the chance to create your own bouquet.
- Admission is $10/person and tulips are $1.25/stem.
If you go: The farm encourages guests to bring their own baskets.
- About an hour north of Uptown at 250 Crater Road Harmony, N.C.
Dewberry Farms
A 20-acre, family-owned farm in Kernersville that hosts seasonal events and u-pick flower experiences, like tulips in the spring and sunflowers in the summer and fall.
If you go: Tickets ($15 for adults for tulips) are required to book your u-pick time slot.
- A 90-minute drive from Uptown at 2585 Dewberry Farm Lane.
- Pro tip: Make the most of your visit and stop in downtown Winston-Salem before or after (only about 15 minutes from the farm).
Thompson Family Farm
This South Carolina family farm will run its spring tulip season through late March, before returning later in the year with u-pick sunflowers and a pumpkin patch.
- Tulips are $1.25/stem. Admission is $10 for ages 12+.
If you go: The farm is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm.
- Located about two hours west of Uptown at 13830 SC-11, Campobello, S.C.
Stepps Hillcrest Orchard
Tulip season kicks off March 21 and typically lasts three to four weekends at this 8-acre field on a family-owned orchard.
- Visitors are encouraged to buy tickets for u-pick tulips online.
- Admission is $5 per person in advance or $6 at the farm. Tulips are $2 per stem.
If you go: The farm also offers u-pick options for apples, sunflowers and zinnias, pumpkins and grapes, depending on the season.
- About two hours from Uptown at 170 Stepp Orchard Dr, Hendersonville.
