Charlotte Knights and Uptown ballpark are being sold to New York-based ownership group

State of play: While ownership may change, the Knights will remain the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, Dan Rajkowski will still be the COO and the front office staff will stay intact, according to the team.

• "DBH leads some of the most successful and innovative Minor League Baseball franchises in America with a reputation for investing in those communities," Rajkowski said in a statement.
• The terms of the deal were not disclosed. For comparison, the Sacramento River Cats and its ballpark sold for approximately $90 million in 2022, Sportico reported.

Context: DBH owns 34 minor league baseball teams, including other White Sox affiliates like the Double-A Birmingham Barons and the High-A Winston-Salem Dash.

Zoom in: The sale marks the end of the era for Don Beaver and minority owner Bill Allen, who purchased the team in 1997. More than 5 million fans have visited the ballpark since it opened in Uptown a decade ago.

What's next: The deal will need the league's consent to satisfy other conditions before it formally closes. This is expected to take place soon, per the team.
