Charlotte-based designer Ashley Ross is being recognized by the interior decorating magazine House Beautiful.

Why it matters: Each year, the magazine releases a list of up-and-coming names in interior design across the U.S. There are only 13 spots and two North Carolina designers received a nod in this year's list of House Beautiful's Next Wave Class of 2024.

Flashback: I did a home tour with Ross last year, and we spent a lot of time talking about family heirlooms and artwork. Something she said about a portrait struck me:

  • "It's difficult to find art where you see heritage through hair in a way that's pretty damn interesting and cool," she told me.

The bottom line: Ross specializes in telling real stories through spaces. And it's pretty damn interesting and cool to see one of the most prestigious design magazines honor that.

Four continents and 17 countries later, culture inspires me the most. We are all way more connected than we know we are globally.

Mind sharing a little about your offerings?

We work across the U.S. with offices in Charlotte and Dallas, and regardless of the package, we offer a revolutionary emphasis on ensuring BIPOC professionals feel safe and seen in their homes.

We offer two packages for residential and commercial projects:

  • Full service: Similar to what you see on HGTV, we take a project from concept to completion. Our full-service work is $7,000 per space, with a minimum of three spaces.
  • Partial: For less than three areas we offer virtual design services for $3,600 per space.
