Mooresville-based Lowe's has one of the best reputations among the nation's most visible brands, according to this year's Axios/Harris Poll 100.
Why it matters: Lowe's is one of the region's biggest employers, with a growing presence in South End, where it opened a tech hub a few years ago.
Zoom in: The home improvement retailer (with a "very good" reputation, according to the poll metrics) landed at No. 41 among the top 100 brands. That's up two spots from last year. Respondents gave Lowe's high marks for trust, culture, and products and services.
- Charlotte-based Bank of America (with a "fair" reputation) ranked No. 78, up three spots from last year.
Wells Fargo, which has its largest employee base in Charlotte, came in at No. 92. It's the only one of Charlotte's largest employers rated with a "poor" reputation.
The big picture: The survey, a result of a partnership between Axios and Harris Poll, gauges the reputation of the most visible brands in the U.S., based on 20 years of Harris Poll research.
- The survey is a multi-step process that first involves surveying the public's opinion of which visible brands have the best reputation, and which have the worst.
- Then those 100 "most visible" companies are ranked by a second group on seven key dimensions — trust, ethics, growth, products/service, citizenship, vision and culture.
- This year's rankings are based on a survey of more than 16,500 Americans.
