Today is the last day for Jimmy Pearls at The Market at 7th Street in Uptown, Axios' Laura Barrero writes. The James Beard-nominated owners will still hold pop-ups around the city, including a few at Free Range Brewing while they look for a new brick-and-mortar location.
Why it matters: Co-owners and chefs Daryl Cooper and Oscar Johnson are semifinalists for Best Chef: Southeast by the James Beard Foundation — Charlotte's only semifinalist nod for the prestigious culinary awards.
The beloved spot with a menu inspired by family traditions and Southern coastal fare reopened at The Market at 7th Street (224 E. 7th St.) in August 2022 after the pandemic.
What's next: "We are planning for the future. And the future is bright," the owners wrote on their Instagram.
Cooper says that they don't have a brick-and-mortar secured yet but they're actively searching for one in Charlotte.
