Halal cart update

Halal Street Food is now targeting an early spring 2024 opening at its new Camp North End location, a representative from CNE tells Laura.

Context: The fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant's second brick-and-mortar location was supposed to open last summer.

Why it matters: Halal Food Cart has been an Uptown staple since 2016 when husband and wife duo Khuram and Damaris Bashir launched the cart.

• They opened their first restaurant at 4044 Connection Point Blvd., in MoRa Point in east Charlotte, in 2022.

Driving the news: The Bashirs' son, Cristopher Collado, will lead their Camp North End expansion.
