Charlotte Douglas International Airport leaders on Tuesday unveiled plans for a new "CLT Destination District," Axios' Ashley Mahoney writes.
The project could be up and running by 2026.
What's happening: The airport is looking to develop roughly 90 acres it owns along North Josh Birmingham Parkway and Stafford Drive, near the airport entrance off Wilkinson Boulevard.
Its proposed new "front door" could include:
🏨 Two hotels
🍺 Nine food and beverage options, plus a brewery
⛽️ A gas station
🩺 A medical office
💊 A pharmacy
🛍 Convenience service retail
🚊 It would also preserve space for the LYNX Silver Line.
Of note: CLT Destination District is a separate project from Destination CLT, the airport's $3.5B capital investment project.
