A luxurious private island estate on Lake Norman could be yours for $22 million.
State of play: Merancas Island, a 4.5-acre property only accessible by boat or private road, just hit the market. It’s located at 14051 Island Dr. in Huntersville.
Why it matters: It’s the most expensive property to hit the market in Mecklenburg County and the second most expensive in the state, per Premier Sotheby’s.
Details: The property includes a main house, guest house, dog house and dog run, gazebo dock, private boat dock, tennis court, sculpture garden, private gated entrance and a garden shed.
Main house: Harry Schrader custom designed the 12,888-square-foot main house, which features three bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. It offers plenty of natural light with its floor-to-ceiling windows, plus panoramic views and a sunroom.
- Modern comforts meet rustic charm in the main house, where you can choose between using an elevator or a spiral staircase, the latter leads you to the library.
- You’ll also find an indoor pool with a waterfall feature, sauna, steam shower, outdoor shower and a pool courtyard.
- It also includes a dance studio, exercise room, music room, recreation room, several terraces, a wine cellar and a three-car garage.
Guest house: The 1,700-square-foot, two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom guest house features a full kitchen, balcony, boat storage and three-car garage.
Of note: Jessica Grier of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Charlotte office and Ben Bowen of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Lake Norman – Cornelius office have the listing.
