Urban District Market is a food hall that’ll be home to 12 new restaurants and Charlotte’s newest brewery and soju distillery called LaBARatory.
UDM is part of Lintmen’s, an adaptive reuse development called that’ll also have offices and retail space, Axios’ Emma Way previously reported.
Why it matters: Walkable to NoDa, Villa Heights and Optimist Park, UDM will further cement the Mill District area as a Charlotte hot spot.
- It’s located an 11-minute walk to the 25th St station LYNX Blue Line, which will take you straight into NoDa.
- The Cross Charlotte Trail (AKA the XCLT), which stretches from the southern tip of Mecklenburg County to near the Cabarrus County line, will run right through Lintmen’s.
- UDM will eventually connect to Seoul Food Meat Co. via a rooftop terrace and bridge that is being built over the Cross Charlotte Trail.
Zoom in: The food hall is located just one mile from Optimist Hall, a massive former gingham mill that opened as a popular food hall in 2019.
What to expect: At UDM, the 20,000-square-foot textile building has plenty of seating and international food options. Guests have the option to dine inside, on the patio, or take food to go. They can also take food and drinks to and from Seoul Food Meat Co., located across the street.
Six of the 13 tenants will open Monday, April 17, from 4-11pm:
- LaBARatory — A science lab-themed bar that serves drinks from its on-site soju distillery along with other local craft beer and cocktails.
- Crispy Patty — Katsu sandwiches served with a variety of proteins including seafood, chicken and beef.
- The Rare Butcher — Premium steak and gourmet sides.
- HC Burger Company — Hand-chopped burgers and fries.
- Stick Street — Street fare foods from around the world served on skewers.
- Stuffed — Savory and sweet dumplings that can be steamed, pan-fried or deep-fried.
Details: The Urban District Market is located at 2315 N. Davidson St.
- Its hours will mirror those of Seoul Food — 11:30am-midnight Sunday-Thursday and 11:30am-2am Friday and Saturday.

What’s next: Seven additional restaurants will open “soon,” according to a representative from The MOB Group Inc., a local hospitality management company behind Seoul Food Meat Co. and Bit by Seoul Food.
- According to the UDM’s Instagram, those tenants will include a test kitchen that’ll serve as a restaurant incubator for aspiring entrepreneurs and a grab-and-go market called “SUPER.”
