Good Wurst, a New York-style deli with European street food influences and Montreal-style bagels, will soon open a new South End location.
Owner Lincoln Clark tells me he’s aiming to open later this summer.
Why it matters: The humble deli in Plaza Midwood quickly cemented its position in Charlotteans’ hearts — and bellies. We named it to our best new restaurants list in 2020, the year it opened. And if you skim internet reviews, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything other than glowing reviews.
- After the closures of places like Owen’s Bagels and Sammy’s Deli, Charlotte was hungry for a spot just like Good Wurst.
- And now we get another one.
What to expect: Good Wurst no. 2 will open inside Vantage South End, the new two-tower development where Lending Tree recently opened its new headquarters.
- The 2,750-square-foot restaurant faces South Tryon.
- It’ll be open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to a statement from The Spectrum Cos., the developer behind the Vantage project.
On the menu: Expect items such as German bratwursts, Belgian frites, Montreal-style bagels and Reubens, along with specialty meats like brats, schnitzel and pastrami. Almost everything on the menu is under $10 and much of it is under $5.

Background: The owner, Lincoln Clark, is also the restaurateur behind Fuel Pizza. Clark is also planning an Atlanta location of Good Wurst.
My thought bubble: On weekends, eating Good Wurst and watching Formula 1 has become a tradition for me. Now when I wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning, I immediately crave a bacon, egg and cheese. It’s that good.
