Charlotte is fully embracing its new soccer team, and so are local breweries, ahead of Charlotte FC’s first home match on Saturday, March 5.
Brush up on your soccer knowledge before you go, and consider grabbing a beer at a local brewery. Several are hosting watch parties and pregames.
Here are five Charlotte FC-themed beers from local breweries to check out:
(1) NoDa Brewing Company’s Pitchside Pils
You’ll be able to enjoy The Pitchside Pils at all Charlotte FC home games at Bank of America Stadium.
- It was created as a collaboration with NoDa Brewing Company and Charlotte FC’s supporters’ groups.
- The brewery made the beer, the supporters’ groups picked the name, and the Club designed the label.
Details: Pitchside Pils is a German-style pilsner, brewed with German Pilsner malt and German hops.
- “The low alcohol and crisp, refreshing character make this perfect for enjoying throughout a match,” NoDa Brewing’s Cody Nations tells Axios.
Where to find it: Bank of America Stadium, NoDa Brewing’s North End Taproom and most major retailers (like Harris Teeter).
- A 16oz four-pack costs $12.99.

Lenny Boy will host official watch parties for Mint City Collective’s South End Chapter, Charlotte FC’s largest supporters’ group.
- Mint City Collective has been using the Lenny Boy space to make banners and even record some chants and cheers that will be played at BofA during the game.
- On Friday, March 4 Lenny Boy will host the Charlotte FC Season Kickoff Party.
Details: Mint City Collective is an American-style Pilsner with a low ABV percentage.
- “It’s the perfect tailgate beer,” Founder Townes Mozer tells Axios.

Wooden Robot is bringing back their QC Lager in honor of the inaugural Charlotte FC match.
- They’re also releasing limited edition “Lager is Life” beer glasses to celebrate. Buy a beer and keep the glass for $12, while supplies last.

Where to find it: The beer and glass will be available at both Wooden Robot locations: The Brewery in South End and The Chamber in NoDa.
(5) Protagonist’s Queen Charlotte Pilsner
Protagonist brewers created their Queen Charlotte Pilsner for this occasion.
