The hippest shops in Charlotte aren’t opening in SouthPark or Northlake malls. They’re on the streets of South End in 400-square-foot micro-shops and shiny new storefronts.
The big picture: Even before the pandemic, new and trendy retailers were choosing new and trendy South End developments over traditional malls.
- Being able to shop in an open-air setting like at Centro Railyard is a big draw for health-conscious shoppers.
Where things stand: Twelve of the 15 micro-retailers at Centro Railyard are now open. Retailers coming soon include Morelia, a gourmet paleta shop; Kika Stretch Studios, a fitness studio; and Boba Baba, which will sell boba tea and pastries.
