Josh McCown $3.4 million home for sale
Former Panthers quarterback Josh McCown’s 8,000-square-foot family home in Carmel Park hits the market Tuesday, asking $3.95 million.
Quick background: The quarterback started his NFL career in 2002 and was with the Panthers during the 2008-2009 season. Mostly recently he played for the Philadelphia Eagles and coached at Myers Park High School.
McCown and his family moved back to his hometown in east Texas earlier this year so he could retire and his son could play high school football where McCown got his start. McCown is also acting as “Covid QB” for the Eagles — if the quarterback gets sick, McCown will sub in.
The exact address is 4900 Carmel Park Drive. At 8,000 square feet, it has 6 beds and 6 full and 3 half baths. It sits on 1.3 acres.
David Hoffman and Megan Banks with The David Hoffman Group have the listing. (Did I mention this is the new brokerage’s first week in business?)
McCown says he and his family’s Carmel Park home provided the best of both worlds: Proximity to shops and restaurants, along with seclusion and privacy within a scenic neighborhood.
“We counted our blessings every time we pulled up to the home,” he says.
The house: They bought the SouthPark-area house in 2018 and completely renovated it. They updated the kitchen, bathrooms, and finishes throughout to create an elegant yet livable family home.
“It’s not ostentatious but no stone was left unturned,” Hoffman says.
The open floorplan and soaring ceilings make the already-large-house feel even more spacious, but the intentional design makes every room feel warm and cozy, too.
Outdoor living: The outdoor area is one of the most impressive spots. The McCowns put in a brand new pool this summer with an aqua lounger tanning deck and a basketball hoop. They also built a sports court (this checks out, being a family of athletes) and an outdoor kitchen with two TVs.
With 1.3 flat, lush acres, the yard is private and gorgeous.
