Home of the Year is proudly presented by The Redbud Group at Keller Williams SouthPark, creating great experiences. Find your own dream home and browse Charlotte listings by neighborhood.
Inspired by the homeowner’s California roots, this new NoDa home blends Queen Anne-inspired design with rustic Carolina touches to create a dreamy modern farmhouse.
The home: 3,243 square feet, 5 beds, 3.5 baths
Best room in the house: One of the client’s favorite (and specifically requested) features was the addition of a sitting room in which to enjoy their morning coffee together, THR’s design team says. The room receives a soft, dappled morning light that shines in through the canopy of the large oak tree in the front yard. A wood tongue and groove ceiling helps carry through the warmth of the oak flooring, and the fireplace with floating shelves on either side creates a cozy feeling that can be enjoyed year round.
Biggest splurge: The custom floating cedar vanity in the owner’s bathroom. The planks visually elongate the room, and the cedar cap on the backsplash, coupled with the choice in sconces over the mirrors, bring the cedar accent up the wall to tie it all together.
From the designer: “Nestled in the heart of NoDa on 35th street sits this custom home built for a family relocating from San Francisco. THR was asked to incorporate elements from the city the client was leaving behind and to build a new house that feels old.” — THR Design
