Go inside: Suffolk Punch transforms warehouse next door into a 600-person event venue called Norfolk Hall

“Suffolk Punch has seen a strong demand for private event space since its opening nearly two years ago,” Cheré Velazquez, who’s in charge of events at Norfolk Hall, said. “After the acquisition of Norfolk Hall, Suffolk sought a catering partner that had similar values in craft food drink – with a proven track record for success. The Suffolk Punch is the proud owner of this amazing venue, and now has a trusted partner to run it with the same level of integrity in QC Catering.”

They can host all types of events, but weddings and even corporate events will be big.

The space: It’s a 7,500-square-foot renovated warehouse with rustic touches like reclaimed wood, corrugated metal and barn doors. A giant L-shaped bar starts near the front and hooks around to the back half of the space, which can be closed off to create two separate more intimate rooms. Technically 600 people can fit in the space cocktail style (aka everyone huddles around high-tops), but for weddings, or any seated event, they allow 260. Cheré told me she recommends couples keep guest lists under 200 for maximum floor plan flexibility and comfort.

Venue cost: They’ve rolled out introductory pricing in which Monday through Thursday starts at $1,000; Friday and Sunday starts at $1,600; and Saturday starts at $3,500. If you want to have your ceremony there, it’s an additional $800.

Alcohol packages: Drinks are provided through Suffolk Punch, and open bar rates start at $18 per person for two hours of just beer and wine, and go up to $25 per person for beer, wine and liquor for four hours. If you want premium liquor, you’ll pay a higher price.

Important notes: If you need an area to get ready, you can rent a lounge just down the street which has plenty of space for a bridal party. And if you want to be fancy, you can request to do a buyout of Suffolk Punch for your cocktail hour or any other part of your wedding.

Why it matters: Charlotte could use more flexible wedding venues that aren’t ballrooms, and it’s nice that Norfolk Hall doesn’t have any sneaky stipulations that jack the pricing up. It’s a straightforward, super cool space that can be customized to fit whatever your style may be. Expect Norfolk Hall to be popular, immediately — especially with the venue’s low introductory pricing.
