“We are a North Carolina-based company with offices in Wilmington, Charlotte and Durham and wanted a ‘home’ for a recurring annual event in the Carolinas,” said Untappd President and COO Trace Smith. “We look forward to working together annually to build a memorable event that puts our city, as well as brewers in Charlotte and throughout the Carolinas, on a global stage to our audience of over seven million users.”
Untappd and Bank of America Stadium have partnered to host the inaugural Untappd Beer Festival on the actual Panthers field. So far, 11,500 tickets have been sold and only 12,500 are available. We expect the event to sell out.
One hundred and eighty brewers, including dozens of local brewers, will pour samples of two to four different beers at booths stationed on the field at Bank of America Stadium. You can view a detailed festival map here.
The beer festival will take place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m this Saturday, May 4. The event is not sold out (yet) and tickets are still on sale at Untappd.com/festival.
“We are in, and we are very excited!” NoDa Brewing President Suzie Ford told the Agenda. “We love festivals like this that are in a creative environment. Who wouldn’t want to drink beer ON the field? Sign me up.”
There are three different tiers of tickets: General Tickets ($50), Early Access Tickets ($65) and VIP Tickets ($200 – SOLD OUT). Here’s what each ticket tier gets you:
- General Tickets ($50): Four hours of beer sampling (4-8 p.m.), live entertainment and souvenir sampling glass.
- Early Access Tickets ($65): Same as general tickets, but you can get in an hour earlier at 3 p.m.
- VIP Tickets: Same as early access tickets, but you also get a special private even in the visitor locker room that includes an exclusive tasting of VIP-only pours with four breweries (including The Bruery from Placentia, CA) , meet and greet with Untappd co-founder/CTO Greg Avola, food pairings with beer samples, commemorative Untappd Beer Festival lanyard/VIP badge and an Untappd Beer Festival swag pack
“We upped VIP from 200 to 400 after selling out of first 200 in first week,” said Untappd President and COO Trace Smith. “We added more food and more brewers to that area (visitor locker room).”
Fine print: No dogs or babies are allowed (sorry all of Charlotte). And designated driver tickets are available for $10.
“We are delighted to be working with Untappd to bring this great new festival to Uptown Charlotte,” said Panthers President Tom Glick. “The beer and brewery scene continues to be a beacon for the growth of our region, and we can’t wait to welcome many local and national brewers to our stadium.”

I’m loving the Panthers more fan-friendly approach under new owner David Tepper.
Confirmed participating local breweries include: NoDa, Resident Culture, Lenny Boy, Legion, Divinie Barrel, Bold Missy, King Canary, Legal Remedy, Bond Brothers, Wooden Robot, Triple C, Town and OMB.
“We’re excited for the opportunities the Panthers are creating for the city of Charlotte and our community,” said Amanda McLamb, co-owner of Resident Culture. “The scale of holding a festival at Bank of America Stadium will be fairly surreal — both for brewers and for the attendees.”
We all know Charlotte loves beer, Panthers and festivals — so expect this to sell out and become a big annual tradition.
