Uptown has seen a major wave up renovations to its older office buildings recently, and BB&T Center is next on deck.
Bank of America Plaza, 400 S. Tryon, First Citizens Plaza and Charlotte Plaza have all been renovated lately. From the extensive (Bank of America Plaza) to the minor (Charlotte Plaza), all the projects strive to bring the buildings into the 21st century.
Up next is BB&T Center.
Arden Group (who owns the building) has announced that it has renovations planned for the 567,000 SF office building.

Trinity Partners and Redline Design Group are involved with the BB&T Center renovations that will include updates to Overstreet Mall and the third floor lobby along with the addition of a tenant-only amenity deck above the parking deck entrance.
The lobbies on the third and first floor will feature an aesthetic that will look familiar to those who have seen the renovations at Bank of America Plaza and 400 S Tryon.
Expect a cleaner, more modern look that will bring the building out of the drab 70s style it’s currently sporting. The tenant amenity deck above the parking deck entrance is certainly very cool and features 1,400 SF of outdoor space.

While what really needs attention and renovation is the ground floor along College and 4th and the parking deck, this is a step in the right direction, especially for Overstreet Mall as Uptown continues to spruce up that space.
I hope we see some continued attention to this building and see the majorly needed renovations to the ground floor (the stretch on College is just horrible for a pedestrian) and parking deck in the future.
Look for these renovations to start very soon and wrap up in Q3 2019.
