In response to: Poll: Should Dot Dot Dot change its dress code to allow shorts?
“Grown men should not be wearing shorts when going out at night. Period. Unless you are going to some place like Hooters…. My 4 year old nephew would love this change, but he is 4 years old.” – N
“Defining ‘dress shorts’ at the door will be the slippery slope.” – J
“The only reason, literally the only reason, they should allow shorts is if they aren’t making enough money. And if they aren’t making enough money simply because they don’t allow shorts then that says a lot more about Charlotte than it does about Dot Dot Dot. Hint: grow up Charlotte.” – O
“While I understand the convenience factor and many people just want to wear shorts, personally I think it is diluting the brand… If you give in to one thing, over time what will that turn into?” – P
In response to: Charlotte’s airport is in the middle of $2.5 billion in construction. See the latest on 8 major projects
“Let’s get a light rail out there already” – J
“Typical landing schedule in CLT: land, taxi/sit on the runway for 30+, get 50ft from the gate, wait for ground crew for 30 mins, deplane. Oh you checked luggage? Have a seat, that’s another hour. Otherwise proceed to ground transportation—it’s somewhere outside in that cloud of humidity and cigarette smoke. – R Hoping they figure out how to get prices down.” – J
“A gigantic asset to this city… one of the main things we have that other cities like ours don’t. Hundreds of flights to hundreds of cities and it employs thousands of people. I’m happy to see it busy and under construction… means it, and the city, are thriving.” – A

In response to: Confessions of a Charlotte pharmacist
“I get it but, this is almost shaming people for asking questions that they SHOULD be asking. If you’re receiving medication and fear how it may impact you sexually or in a gastrointestinal way, you SHOULD NOT be afraid to ask!!’ Ask your doctor of COURSE but sometimes doctors rush us out or we simply don’t think about the questions until the ride from doctor to pharmacist. But maybe don’t have your pharmacist feel for lumps and try not to flash your balls.” – F
In response to: Move over dockless bikes, Lime electric scooters have hit the streets in Charlotte
“So I feel like with the scooters being the talk of the town this day, it’s only appropriate I write about the first incident I am aware of, myself. Beautiful day outside so I decide to leave uptown for lunch and ride down to Viva Chicken. No troubles during the journey and I fast forward to my ride back to uptown. With my tacu bowl (cilantro rice add chicken, mostly yellow sauce) in hand, I have a green light and a pedestrian walk sign. Yet, an SUV comes whipping to make a right turn in front of me. The brakes on these scooters are below average, so I go flying into the side of the SUV. The driver reluctantly gets out of the car insisting that he has done no wrong. In conclusion, I made it back to work with my Viva Chicken still in tact, but I do believe these scooters will cause some serious danger in the future.” – N
In response to: Google Fiber hasn’t given up on Charlotte — they’ve just slowed down
“I wish that you would address the cost of Google Fiber in your story. I live in Highland creek and was incredibly excited to finally get away from cable. Google came in with great promises and started with a great price. Then the price jumped $20 and is now over $160 bucks. It feels like a bait and switch. That should be addressed, but Google is too busy making themselves look better in the community to worry about the cost that they stuck to the people of Highland Creek.” – S
In response to: The Panthers have found a new owner. Hedge fund mogul to sign deal to buy the team with $2.2 billion in cash
“People in Charlotte remind him of people in Pittsburgh?” – K
“2.2B cash sheesh!” – J
“It says he will keep them here but let’s just hope he keeps his word.” – D
“I see them moving eventually.” – R
“Wonder how much of that money came from the housing crisis. – J
“First, I love the panthers. But not fronting the cost as a taxpayer for stadium upgrades and renovations when the owners are making a couple billion in profit. And when we push back they threaten to move the team. Really?” – A
In response to: Superica opens May 21 in South End. Here’s your first look at Charlotte’s new favorite Tex-Mex fix
“I was at the Superica in Atlanta last month, and I CAN’T WAIT for this one to open.” – K
In response to: The most expensive cocktail at 20 popular Charlotte cocktail spots, from $12 to $400
“F*** affordable housing, we need affordable cocktails in Charlotte.” – G
“I’ve read a lot of good reports on Agenda but this – as your lead today – really missed the beat. There was a hearing last night at the City Council Meeting regarding the need for 50 million dollars for the Housing Trust Fund. That is a story about poverty, economic mobility and underlying racism in our housing affordability. To lead with the ‘Most Expensive Cocktails in Charlotte’ instead of a story about the housing crisis is offensive and frankly seems privileged and uninformed. I know you can do better.” – C

In response to: Shake Shack served 7,000 guests opening weekend — 4 things the burgermania taught Charlotte about itself
“It tasted like Wendy’s. I feel like the little boy from ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ bc I’m the only person not on the bandwagon… #SorryNotSorry… Five Guys, In-N-Out, Bang Bang Burgers and Moo and Brew are WAY BETTER!” – C
“Owner of Shake Shack, Danny Meyers, was a big inspiration in a lot peoples’ lives. At least 21 James Beard awards and several Michelin restaurants, he was part of the forefront which changed dining in America. Glad to have Shake Shack in town.” – R
“I think when Ted says ‘Charlotte loves better, not just local’ what he really means is that Charlotte loves pretending to be cool and Shake Shack is new and cool – if it’s 2008. It is 2008, right? Oh no, you mean we’re 10 years behind.” – O
Why doesn’t anyone ever mention that the reason Shake Shack is a success is that you know the product will be quality? I’ll support local and chain when they give me a pure product. (From Shake Shack site “100% all-natural Angus beef, vegetarian fed, humanely raised and source verified. No hormones or antibiotics – EVER.”) – C
