We all know about 300 South Tryon — it’s the office and hotel project going up at 3rd and Tryon streets. Babson Capital will be the anchor tenant, Kimpton is the hotel partner and this thing is flying towards the sky.
We now have our first look at renderings of the rooftop bar going on the 19th floor of the Kimpton hotel and overlooking Romare Bearden Park, as well as the first images of the restaurant/bar concept going on 3rd Street.
First up, the rooftop bar.

This has a tremendous big city feel. It’s elegant, it’s “loungey” and certainly will become a staple of nightlife in the city. I can’t imagine this place ever not being crowded — weather permitting, of course. The indoor bar area (which would be at the corner of Church and 3rd if it were on the ground) is expansive and will provide plenty of indoor seating.

This gives way (heading south) to the outdoor area which appears as if it will be a lounge with sweeping views of Third Ward and the rest of Uptown.
Next up is the restaurant and bar concept (appears to be an Italian theme) going on 3rd Street. If the renderings match the final product I LOVE what they did with the street presence of the place. The patio being below sidewalk level gives a fantastic urban feel and will really help the pedestrian level stand out.

Inside, the big city theme continues.

I really love both of these components of the project and it just continues to add to 300 South Tryon’s impressive stature and scope.
Bonus: The “sail” at the top (the steel architectural structure above all the office floors) will have programmable LED lights. Think the Duke Energy Center.
What this means is that the sail will be able to light up Panther blue, American red, white and blue, Prince purple, Tequila Sunrise orange and yellow, etc. I personally love all the colors on the buildings throughout town, so I am all for this.
