The Charlotte restaurant scene is booming. Love it. Here are 14 restaurant(ish) openings that Charlotteans are anxiously awaiting this fall.
(1) Farmer & Butcher
Concept: Mediterranean smokehouse.
Location: Dilworth, next to Showmars and across the street from Summit Room (1608 East Blvd).
Food: Serving grilled and wood-fired dishes like pork, lamb, chicken, seafood, calamari and grilled vegetables

Other: Patio will be outstanding. Owner is Martin Sprock, a restaurant empire-builder. The man co-founded Moe’s Southwest Grill and has been behind other franchises like Mama Fu’s Asian House and Planet Smoothie. He is now running RuRu’s Tacos & Tequila, Leroy Fox and Ios Greek Kitchen at the EpiCentre (CA Story: A new Mediterranean restaurant is coming to East Boulevard and it’s a sneaky big deal).

Menu: Dumplings (ex, pork & ginger gyoza – $5), small bites (ex, pork & crab spring rolls – $7.50), noodles (ex, pad thai – $14), salads (ex, vietnamese chicken – $10) banh mi (caramel pork – $9.50) and broth noodles (ex, beef pho-$12).

Location: SouthPark, close to Whole Foods and across the street from Dogwood (4810-E Ashley Park Ln).
Menu: Fish and chips. Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Fresh pizza. Hand pattied burgers. You get it – fresh, American comfort food.

Concept: Organic specialty bar focused on juices and healthy living.
Timing: October/November
Location: Taking the space previously occupied by Selwyn Cleaner’s on Selwyn (2927 Selwyn Ave).
Menu & Beverages: Raw vegan tapas, veggie based smoothies, cold press juices, nut mylks, holistic juice cleanses and spiked cold press cocktails. Cold press juices and nut mylks will cost $9.50 to $13, SuperFood Smoothies will cost $7.50 and raw vegan artisan small plates will start at $6.

Location: Across the street from the Midwood Smokehouse in Ballantyne (12206 Copper Way, Ste 124)
Beverages: 100+ taps. Craft beer (duh), cider, wine, flavored kombuchas, cold-pressed coffee and hand-crafted root beer (big in other cities).

Location: Villa Heights neighborhood, adjacent to NoDa and just outside of Uptown (1721 N. Davidson St.).
Beverages: Full bar with local beers on tap, never-ending PBR, and a fun cocktail menu featuring “drinks for the girlfriends”
Menu: No kitchen, but looking to partner with local food trucks and delivery services.
Other: Abari will feature about 24 arcade games and 7 pinball machines Arcade games will go for $0.25 and pinball $0.50. On Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm Abari will be open to all ages (with adult supervision) but will otherwise be 21+. Occasionally they’ll have “free play” nights scheduled where you can pay a cover – estimated $5 – and enjoy free play on the arcade games “Private club” with annual membership of $1 (think Jeff’s Bucket Shop). (15) Sea Level
Concept: Raw Bar
Timing: TBD
Location: Plans call for this to be a raw bar concept going in the old City Tavern space inside Hearst Tower.
Other: This project is coming from the folks at Damian Dining who are behind Crepe Cellar and Growlers Pourhouse in NoDa. (CA Story: Updated – 5th Street improvements).
(16) 204 North
Concept: Restaurant / Bar
Timing: TBD
Location: Uptown, going in the unoccupied space next to Ri Ra (204 North Tryon).
Menu: Chef Franke Jones wants to create a menu full of “approachable, creative food to speak to the Charlotte crowd.” Price points: $9-$11.
Beverages: 30 taps, a vast majority being local craft beers, craft cocktails on tap, beer infusion towers.
Other: Two levels. The second floor will have a more “lounge-y” feel at night, while the first floor will act as more of a “hangout” gathering and eating atmosphere. The place is HUGE, with seating for 250 people. (CA Story: INSIDER: Everything you need to know about 204 North)
