With all the excitement lately with the University of Texas' softball and baseball teams, we were curious about the bonus packages for postseason play for the squads' head coaches.
Why it matters: Women's sports have historically not gotten the attention or won the revenue of men's sports — and that translates into coaches' salaries.
Catch up quick: This month, the Longhorns softball team won the national championship, besting Texas Tech in the College World Series.
The UT baseball team qualified for the College World Series, but didn't make it to the final championship series.
What we found: Longhorns softball coach Mike White is due for a bonus of roughly $150,000 — or 25% of his base salary of $625,000 — for winning the national championship, per employment contracts Axios obtained through a public information request.
By comparison, Jim Schlossnagle, head coach of the baseball team, will also get a bonus of $150,000 for steering his team to the multi-level College World Series.
Stunning stat: If the baseball team had won the national championship, Schlossnagle would have been due $300,000 — or twice what White earned.
