Austin FC tops $900 million in valuation

• The squad's value — $910 million, up 5% from last year — puts it seventh on the MLS list.
• Valuation is defined as the sum of the current market value of an MLS franchise and the value of team-related businesses and real estate holdings.

The intrigue: Last year, Austin FC brought in new members to its ownership group, including the Borgens, a Denver investment group family; Nvidia board member Tench Coxe; and Jenny Just and Matt Hulsizer, the co-founders of PEAK6 Investments, who have previously backed European soccer clubs.

• Majority owner Anthony Precourt and his family retain majority ownership control of the club. Other original investment group members include Parsley Energy founder Bryan Sheffield and actor Matthew McConaughey.

Zoom out: The average MLS team is worth $767 million, up 6% from last year — and up 39% from Sportico's first MLS valuations in 2021.

• This year's gains "are largely concentrated at the top of the financial table,
  fueled by investor interest and new facilities in the pipeline," notes the Sportico analysis.

• Inter Miami, which won the 2025 championship with Lionel Messi on the team, ranks first at $1.45 billion.
• CF Montréal ranks last with a $430 million valuation.

The bottom line: Austin is not quite as valuable as the Dallas Cowboys — $13 billion per Forbes' 2025 rankings — but nearly $1 billion isn't shabby for a recently-minted soccer squad.
