Now that we just knocked off one big holiday, it's time to look forward to another.
What's happening: Indie folk band The Head and the Heart headlines the music portion of Austin's free New Year's Eve celebration.
Also on the bill at Auditorium Shores, local bands Chaparelle, Tameca Jones and The Point.
Attendees can watch a drone show, presented by Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.
Plus, of course, fireworks.
Between the lines: Tom Noonan, president and CEO of Visit Austin, which is co-hosting the event, put on the sell in a statement promoting the event, calling it "a perfect moment for residents to take advantage of our great hotel rates in Austin on New Year's Eve and make it a staycation."
The bottom line: "This celebration captures what makes Austin so special — a place where everyone can come together to enjoy great music, local food and a sense of belonging as we welcome a new year," Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said in a statement.
