😋 Asher here.
I recently stopped by Blue Aspara, a Cambodian food trailer on South Lamar, near the intersection with Oltorf, and tasted my favorite new Austin dish: The funky fish amok ($15).
I know what you're thinking: "Funky" and "fish" don't feel right together.
But steamed in a rich coconut curry, with lemongrass and kaffir lime, and served in banana leaf, the nubbly, ground-pork-like fish serves a pungent rainbow of taste, like nothing else I've had in town.
Vibe check: You can sit outside and gaze at the pretty mopeds for sale at Urban Moto next door, or nab a table inside Frond plant shop, which shares a lot with Blue Aspara, and feel as if you're dining in a jungle.
Six-word review: Fish with just the right funk.
🏆 Pro tip: After you're through relishing your fish, grab a tira-miso latte at Desnudo, which has a trailer on the property.
