😋 Asher here, your fearless traveling diner.
At the Austin airport for a recent trip I made sure to snag the cauliflower tacos at the fusion-food spot Peached Tortilla.
Why it matters: Dining at 30,000 feet on outbound flights from Austin is all about balancing your self-consciousness of eating in tight quarters with instilling jealousy in your seatmates.
Zoom in: The two tasty tacos ($11 — a bargain in the universe of airport bites), composed of fried cauliflower garnished with arugula, peanuts, toasted coconut, kewpie mayo, watermelon radish and a lime wedge, hit that I-just-passed-through-security-and-finally-can-settle-down spot.
The intrigue: The same order is available as a bowl at the Peached Tortilla's Cedar Park and Burnet Road locations, and at Bar Peached, on West Sixth Street, for dinner.
But that doesn't come with the fun of eating off a seatback tray-table while trying desperately to keep your ginger ale from sliding away amid unexpected turbulence.
Three-word review: Cauliflower that soars.
Bottom line: H/t to reader Emily S., who advised us this was the best vegetarian taco in Austin.
