Texas Longhorns could go early in NFL draft

Hundreds of college standouts, including student-athletes from the University of Texas, will wait to hear their name called at this week's NFL draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The big picture: This is the first time the NFL's smallest market is hosting the major event.

The seven draft rounds will begin at 7pm Thursday and conclude Saturday after 257 picks.
ABC, ESPN and NFL Network will broadcast the draft.

Zoom in: Three former Longhorns could be drafted in the first round Thursday — wide receiver Matthew Golden, defensive back Jahdae Barron and offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.

Nine others could be drafted, including quarterback Quinn Ewers.

What they're saying: "Everybody wants to get drafted as early as possible, because it feels good in the moment," Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian told reporters this week. "But in reality, it's about where are you going, and are you a good fit for that scheme and that coaching staff."
